Is It Still Worth It To Bot In World Of Warcraft?

If you have read any post on my Warcraft blog you are aware that I am a huge fan of mmoglider, which is the best bot you can use for World of Warcraft. Granted, there are other bot programs you can use for WoW such as Innerspace, but nothing comes close to the ease of use and setup you get from mmoglider. That being said, most every botter on the planet is aware that there was another huge ban wave by Blizzard on May 20th 2008 that resulted in thousands of accounts getting banned. Now, those who are familiar with the mmoglider program know that it is designed to check for status changes in Blizzards Warden utility. The Warden (as it's called) monitors certain aspects of your computer to check for things loaded in memory while you are playing WoW. That's a simplistic overview but it summarizes how mmoglider avoids detection. If Warden is updated, the bot program terminates.

This tactic has actually worked quite well for the last year or so, as accounts being banned due to the bot program have dropped significantly as the bot has evolved, but nothing is foolproof, and as the saying goes, there are no guarantees in life. If you bot in World of Warcraft, be prepared to lose it all. That's the risk you take for cheating the system. Now, there's ways to cushion the blow, for example, by not botting on your main account. I would suggest starting a secondary account to bot with that you create under a different name and address. That way if it does get banned, Blizzard cannot ban your other account based on name alone. Billing the second account under a different credit card number won't hurt either.

So the question remains; is it still worth it to bot in World of Warcraft mapmod v2? Sure it is. For starters, the creators of mmoglider will get the current detection issue addressed in short order, and then you can probably count on at least a six month delay between ban waves. If my memory serves me correctly, this latest ban wave is only the third one in two years, so in theory the safest time to bot is immediately after the bot program has been updated after the most recent ban wave. Derek's Gold Mastery Guide is one of the best guides. The reason for that is because Blizzard has spent so much time and energy building up to a huge ban wave that it takes them months and months to set up the next one. As I stated before, there is no guarantee you will not get caught (in fact I've been banned three times) but the odds are in your favor if you start botting within a week of the latest ban wave.

The logical conclusion from most World of Warcraft players would be; if I'm going to get banned regardless, even if it's six months from now, why would I want to bot at all? I guess the answer depends on what you expect to get out of botting. For example, if you are looking to create a new character and get it to level 70, then the bot is for you. Using the bot solely to level will take you about three to four weeks to level to 70, depending on your experience with the bot and what class you are leveling. Once you hit level 70, just stop botting. Or let's say you are honor botting to get as many S1 and S2 pieces as you can get. I've gotten three characters about 13 pieces of PvP gear, each, and it takes under two weeks to get that gear per character. Lastly, if you are botting for gold you have the least to worry about when it comes to botting. The safest bet for gold botting is to have your bot on a second account, as stated previously, then transfer all the gold to your main character. That way when the bot gets banned you only lose the account, not the gold. The only way this is dangerous is if Blizzard actually suspects you of off-loading gold to another account, and to be honest they usually won't spend the resources to investigate those kinds of issues, they'll just ban the bot. Like I say, bot at your own risk, but if you're smart you can maximize your World of Warcraft mapmod v2 experience with mmoglider and keep the risk to a minimum.
